Their engagement

It was a perfectly sunny day (rare for February in SF) and S suggested that they go for one of our regular weekend hikes through Lands End. There was a specific point where S wanted to pop off the trail to a vista of the bay. In true C fashion, he refused to go off the trail because there was a huge muddy puddle to trek through and a swarm of gnats. After a few minutes of S insisting that C joins him at the top, and C firmly shaking my head at the bottom, they continued along the trail. In the very final moments of the hike S swiftly dropped to his knee to pop the question. After the engagement they continued across to Sutro Heights Park where family and friends were waiting for the final surprise and champagne celebration.

Their Celebration

For their bridal portraits they elected to charter two boats, the 72 foot sail boat for a tour of the San Francisco Bay, enjoying a day for just the 2 of them, and a second boat for the vendors to capture them from a distasnce. Watching the crew bring the sails up as they get closer to the Golden Gate was a sight! For their civil ceremony with only immediate family, SF City Hall was a DUH having been an elopement venue for the greats, like Marilyn Monroe. San Francisco is a "Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917." for their reception they chose the first weekend of Pride to celebrate love with their larger family and friends.

Their inspiration

Gray Malin. In choosing their photographer they wanted someone who was very quintessential San Francisco since the City means so much to them having built their lives together there, with vibrant and fun vibes similar to their favorite photographer, Gray Malin. Cheri's classic film aesthetic with a touch of SF quirk was the perfect choice to capture the magnificence of SF City Hall, as well as the vibrant colors of the San Francisco Bay.
